How many of you have heard people say “I believe in God” or “I believe in Jesus Christ” or “I believe in the Bible” but their lives were not consistent with their statement? Maybe I’m talking about some of you. I know there are times in my own life when I realize that it doesn’t match up with my profession of faith.
What I have learned is that one may believe something but not let that belief determine his actions. One may deliberately violate his own conscience or it may be done unintentionally. Either way, that one is not following his belief. Only when one listens, trusts and follows his belief can it save him and lead him in the way of better living.
Faith means trusting in God enough to do what He says to do in order to be saved from sin and live a life of righteousness.
There must be a decision of faith the Bible calls repentance. This means to turn away from sin and toward God.
There must be a declaration of faith the Bible calls confession. One must declare his faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God.
There must be a demonstration of faith the Bible calls baptism. This is an immersion in water in order to obtain the forgiveness of sins.
There must be a life of faith the Bible calls faithfulness. It is unto death and guarantees the crown of life.
Don’t be fooled. Faith is more than just believing. It involves conviction, trust and obedience to God. This is the only way to better living!
